Right to Counsel members were proud to participate, on October 11th 2024, in the first ever International Zero Evictions Marathon!

The virtual marathon, hosted by the Center for Human Rights of the University of Padua (Italy) and the International Alliance of Inhabitants, included more than 10 hours of live streaming on Zoom and YouTube, contributions provided by 26 civil society organizations coming from all continents, as well as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing.

For Right to Counsel's presentation portion, coalition members H.O.P.E. Tenant Union in Brooklyn, Capital District Democratic Socialists of America and Brooklyn Eviction Defense presented on three strategies we use in our movement to fight evictions: rent strikes and crowdfunding, court-packing, and direct action eviction defense.
