Because Governor Cuomo effectively ended NY's universal eviction moratorium, thousands of tenants will soon be at risk of lawsuits, evictions, and fighting their cases in court. This is unacceptable! Today, we are calling on Cuomo, judges, and our city and state elected officials to KEEP HOUSING COURTS CLOSED until these 5 demands are met:
- Extend the Universal Eviction Moratorium
- Ensure Everyone Facing Eviction Has and Knows About the Right to Counsel
- Slow Down Eviction Cases
- Hold Landlords Accountable
- Prioritize Health, Safety, and Accessibility
The physical, mental, emotional, and financial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are still very much upon us. It's unthinkable to open courts and evict families. Join us in taking action!
